Why Ver exists
The Tamil kinship dynamic is wonderfully complex, full of specific words that tell you exactly how people belong to one another. Coming from a Tamil background, I have always found it fascinating — and honestly, sometimes hard to keep track of.
That curiosity became Ver, the Tamil word for root. It began as a side project to build interactive family trees with algorithms that find the right title for your relatives.
Ver is for the moments when “uncle” is not enough: when the difference between a mother’s brother and a father’s younger brother carries memory, respect, and a whole family story. The goal is to make that language easier to explore, share, and pass on.
Ver is still in an early beta stage. Some edges are rough and some kinship paths are still being refined, but the tree, the relationships, and the idea are ready to be tested. Please try it and let me know what you think.
